The library covers both humanities, social and natural science. Geographically, the Arctic regions and to a certain extent the Antarctic regions are covered. The greatest importance is attached to literature about Greenland, and the Polar Library is considered among the largest libraries in the world with titles related to Greenland. The library comprises around 35,000 titles, among which 26,000 are books, 9000 are small publications and 750 are magazines, of which the 300 are subscriptions.
The Polar Library comprises book collections from both Danish Arctic Institute and the Department of Greenlandic and Arctic Studies.
